The books feature disabled people as heroes.  In the first book the hero is a boy in a wheelchair.  In the second book, the hero is a blind girl.  The third book has a deaf boy as the hero.

Frederick J. Tirrell is a lifelong educator. A teacher, school administrator, Superintendent of Schools, Associate Head of a Private School, college professor, consultant and a board member.

He has worked with various organizations dealing with children with special needs. He is happily married to his wife, Julie. He has two children with his first wife, Joan. His son Rick and his daughter Susan. He also has two grandchildren Kevin and Kristin.
